I’m back from vacation!11219119_10153699593645956_4512874550857088062_n

Well, I made it back to Delaware and The Peninsula in one piece despite a few moments of worry such as when I got lost in Prague searching for cold medicine, the hair raising ride on the autobahn and some travel plan changes prompted by the Syrian refugee crisis. I also had moments of daydreaming of selling it all and buying a small flat in Salzburg just for the sheer joy of looking out the window toward the mountains every morning. Ah, the hills really ARE alive with the sound of music….It truly was an amazing trip full of adventure, exploration, new food experiences, beer, wine (& more beer) and even some relaxation but I am glad to be home. Now, I just have to catch up and go through a few thousand e-mails!!!

Clothing our Kidscok

Thank you to all who participated in this year’s Clothing Our Kids event which took place on October 12,2015. Clothing Our Kids volunteers Susan Gee, Marsha Kellogg and Kate Gibson during the post-round festivities at the organization’s second annual charity fundraiser tournament held Oct. 12 at The Peninsula Golf & Country Club. The event raised more than $31,000, to be used to buy and provide school clothing for elementary-aged children in need throughout Sussex County.

Clubhouse Construction UpdateIMG_7327

Construction activities have begun in the following areas:
Footers & foundation walls
a. Elevator pits
b. Masonry walls
c. Fire protection
Utilities are in place and will enter the building next week.
We have received the steel shop drawings from the engineer and the architect has reviewed and signed off. Steel ordering is underway.
After careful review of the utility site work plan, all parties agreed to modify the grease trap location and associated sewer connection. The change protects the sewer main from damage caused by clean-outs placed in roadways.
Certificate of Occupancy date is planned for late September 2016. We do not anticipate any problems at this point but continue to look for places to save time.
